Modify Your PSP NOW!!

So, you just got your FREE PSP, so you want to modify it so you can play FREE games and home brew, eh? Well, good job on finding this article. Modifying it is simple. Here it goes.

  1. Go to http://us.codejunkies.com/Products/PSP-Battery-Service-Tool__EF000530.aspx and buy it.
  2. Get it in the mail, along with the highest capacity Duo stick you can find (the memory stick that goes into Sony devices, like the PSP).
  3. Take your PSP and back everything up. Look for "The File You Need" here. Download it. In the folder, look for "Read 1st". Go to it. Copy contents to C drive.
  4. On PSP, go to Settings>System Settings>Format Memory Stick Duo
  5. After it's done formatting, turn off the PSP, and take out Memory Stick Duo, put it back in. Turn PSP on. Attach PSP to computer.
  6. Go to Start>Run>and type "cmd" without quotes. Type cd.. [Enter] cd.. [Enter] cd.. [Enter] until to root of C drive. Now type "cd mspformat" without quotes and hit enter. Type "mspformat.exe [X]" without quotes, and instead of [X] type, for example, if your PSP drive is E type "mspformat.exe E" without the quotes. Make sure everything is backed up, and hit Y.
  7. Once again, turn off the PSP, take out Memory Stick Duo, and then put it back in. Turn PSP back on.
  8. Put the Despertar v3 contents to the PSP root.
  9. Go To Start>Run>type cmd. Type cd.. [Enter] cd.. [Enter] until you get to C Drive. Type "cd msinst". Now type "msinst.exe e msipl.bin" without quotes, and replacing E with your drive letter. Press Y.
  10. Take out USB connection and turn off PSP. Open battery cover and take battery out. Place battery in Datel Battery Tool and press the button. Place battery back into PSP and hold it there, because it automaticly turns the PSP on.
  11. Follow the onscreen instructions. Make sure you install 3.71 M33. Wait until done, continue following onscreen instructions. When done, it tells you to press a button to turn it off. DO NOT TAKE BATTERY OUT WHILE IT'S INSTALLING! Take battery out after it turns off and put in Datel Battery Tool. Press button. Put back in PSP and put cover back on.
  12. Install whatever you want. I won't tell you where or how to install games onto PSP because of legal reasons.
